COVID-19 poems

COVID-19 Poem #1
Most of the nation
Is in isolation
Because of COVID-19.
But some won't stay home
They continue to roam
Refusing to change their routine.
They won't abide by,
In fact they defy,
The rules put in place to protect them.
They seem to assume
That they are immune
And this virus will never infect them.
But those who are wise
Will hand sanitize
And keep a six foot distance.
As the virus does strike
The case numbers will spike
For to it we have no resistance.
COVID-19 Poem #2
I’ve stayed within my four walls
To avoid COVID-19.
My age leaves me susceptible
So I’ve stayed in quarantine.
The initial isolation
Caused some to be depressed,
While others became anxious,
And began to feel oppressed.
After three months of closures
Groups protested and some chafed.
Without work there was no income,
So states opened up in haste.
But when the ban was lifted
Crowds assembled straight away.
No masks or social distancing;
Pure defiance on display.
Perhaps some have forgotten
Our freedom comes with limits
For actions that cause others harm
The rule of law prohibits.
So let’s all act responsibly
‘Til a vaccine’s been perfected,
For the vulnerable among us
Have the right to be protected.
